Marine Megafauna Association (AMM) is a non-profit, marine research and conservation organization based in Mozambique. Our vision is a world in which marine life and humans thrive together. MMF aspires to attain this vision by studying and protecting threatened marine life. MMF was established in Mozambique in 2009 by Dr. Marshall and Dr. Pierce, they both have been active in the country since 2005 conducting research on manta rays and whale sharks playing important roles at the global level in the protection of these gentle giants through the IUCN’s Red List assessments and the IUCN Shark Specialist Group.
The organization tackles the root causes by educating and empowering local communities to manage their marine resources sustainably through innovative education, pioneering research, and community empowerment.
