COVID-19 Functionality

Introduction

The spread of COVID-19 has had a huge impact on conservation organisations, projects and people around the world. This is why we have added functionality to Izele so page managers can share information much more easily about their responses to COVID-19. In particular, every page can provide details on how they have responded and ecotourism businesses can show which of their activities have been put on hold during the pandemic.

Finding out about COVID-19 impacts

Page managers can share a range of information about how they have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by editing the details on their page’s About Tab and Amenities Tab (see below for instructions on how to make those changes). There are three ways that Izele users can view this information:

  • About Tab. If the page manager has added information, users can see whether an organisation is open or closed during the pandemic and read details on the organisation’s response.
  • Amenities Tab. If the page manager has added information, users can see which activities are still running and read any details on specific changes.
  • Map Tab. When users search for specific activities, they will see which activities have been cancelled at which locations in response to the pandemic.

Updating the About Tab

  1. Log in to Izele and go to the page that you manage.
  2. Click on the About Tab About tab - small.png.
  3. The COVID-19 text box should be visible at the top of the About Tab text.
  4. The option Open is automatically selected. You can change this to Closed or Open (with restrictions) if appropriate .
  5. Click on the Show a message on the page banner tickbox to make visible the information about whether the organisation is open or closed. The banner message will appear on every page tab, showing whether the organisation is open, when the information was last updated and with a link to the About Tab with the text Click here for more information.
  6. To provide more details about how your organisation has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, you can add text by clicking on the Add information about COVID-19 and your organisation edit text icon Edit text.png.

Updating the Amenities Tab

  1. Log in to Izele and go to the page that you manage.
  2. Click on the Amenities Tab Amenities tab - small.png.
  3. If the Amenities Tab is not active then you will need to subscribe to this service (help on subscribing is given here).
  4. In the Overview section, it will show the activities available through your organisation.
  5. Click on the Mark availability due to COVID-19 button to bring up the list of available activities. Click on the Closed due to COVID-19 radio button next to each of the activities that are not available. Then click on the Close tool button. Returning to the Amenities Tab, you will see that the closed activities are now shown with a red line on top of them. This information will also show when people look for activities on the Map Tab.
  6. You can add further information about by how your organisation has responded by clicking on the Add information about COVID-19 and your activities edit text icon Edit text.png.
